Hi and welcome. I’m Josephine and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who loves working with children and teens and adults. You could also call me “Snow White”, as my husband affectionately calls me when children and small animals engage with me.
I help children and adults who feel overwhelmed by their emotions rediscover their inner strength & resilience.
I help children work through their struggles: anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, trauma exposure, social issues, and school problems. I help guide children through the (sometimes challenging) process of learning new coping skills so that they feel empowered to live their lives confidently.
I work with adults who feel “stuck” emotionally and/or behaviorally and help the heal from their traumatic experiences and/or distressing memories.
My ability to stay calm in stressful situations comes from my 20+ years in psychiatric emergency services and my 15+ years as a school social worker. During my time as a school social worker, I’ve worked with many children in both general education and special education. In recent years, I’ve had the pleasure of organizing our school’s 1st subsequent Annual Autism Sensory Fairs as well as create a Sensory Room for our students’ with sensory needs. I have experience in inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient community mental health centers working with children and adults with trauma exposure, anxiety, school problems, domestic violence and chronic mental illnesses. I also serve on the Lead Team of the Essex County Traumatic Loss Coalition (for Youth).
My career and life experiences have taught me working with children and adults that the greatest opportunities for change and growth often come from times of crisis in our lives.
Oftentimes, people feel isolated by their struggles but I truly believe that connection and acceptance is essential for beginning the process of healing. I am consistently amazed at people’s resilience and their willingness to work through their difficult emotions. I am honored to bear witness to their healing and growth.
Call me today at 215-330-6828 for a free consultation. I look forward to working with you and/or your child to make therapy a positive experience.
