Who is this group for?
This group is for kids ages 9-13 who are experiencing feelings of overwhelm, inadequacy and sadness that have persisted and have started interfering with daily functioning.
Does your child say things like:
- “I don’t want to go to school” or “I don’t like school”
- “I don’t feel good” or “I have a stomachache/headache”
- “I just can’t do it” or “I’m just gonna mess it up”
Do you see your usually happy child:
- fall into tears when faced with having to complete homework, attend a social event or do chores
- avoid new things or social interactions
- unable to fall asleep or stay asleep
This group assists in building the skills children need to manage anxiety so they stress less and relax more.
Group members will learn
- Understand how their anxiety and negative thoughts lead to feelings of “dread/doom”
- Strategies to break this vicious cycle and better control their emotions, thoughts, and behavior
- To manage anxiety through gradual, repeated practices and exposure to feared situations

WHAT are the details of group: This group is a closed group that is 18 weeks long plus an intake session for all new clients prior to beginning group. The 18 weeks include 16 group sessions (90 minutes) and two parent sessions (50 minutes).
The first half of the group is the skill building portion and involves the cognitive/educational part of treatment. This half presents skill building concepts as well as fostering a safe and tolerant environment for the expression of anxiety. This is also the time where individual goals are set and group cohesion skills are built. The second half of treatment involves gradually exposing the individual to anxiety inducing experiences while applying the newly acquired skills. This second half serves as practice of the newly learned skills as well as reinforcement of those skills.
Total Investment: All new clients will begin treatment with an intake session. The full group course is 16 group sessions and two parent sessions for a total of 18 weeks following the intake appointment.
For those invested in completing the full group cycle, two payment plans are offered in addition to the pay as you go method. The two payment plans include a monthly plan and a full one payment plan. These payment plans do not include the intake session fee as this is only for new clients and does not apply to all.
